Field Hockey: Coach Syaire Waller
FIELD HOCKEY TRYOUTS ARE COMPLETED!
NO PRACTICE ON THURSDAY, 9/10/26
Field Hockey Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 after school. Tryouts will end at approximately 4:00 PM, allowing students time to change, gather their belongings and prepare for the late bus at approximately 4:15 PM.
Students interested in trying out should plan to attend both days of tryouts.
For tryouts, students should bring:
-
Field hockey stick
-
Shin guards
-
Mouthguard
-
Athletic sneakers or cleats
-
Comfortable athletic clothing
-
Water bottle
Students should come prepared to participate in running, skill drills, passing, ball control and small-sided game play. We will be evaluating overall field hockey skills, effort, teamwork, communication, coachability and willingness to learn.
Previous field hockey experience is not required. We encourage students who are interested in learning the sport to come out and give it a try!
If there are any questions regarding tryouts or equipment needs, please reach out.
We are excited to have a great turnout this year and are looking forward to seeing everyone at tryouts! - Coach Waller (syaire.waller@appo.k12.de.us)
Volleyball: Coach Garrett Taylor
I wanted to share some important information and expectations for our upcoming girls volleyball tryouts.
Tryout Date:
September 8th 2:20 - 4:20 PM
September 9th 2:20 - 4:20 PM
AND SEPTEMBER 10TH 2:20 - 4:20 PM
What Players Should Bring:
-
Water
-
Volleyball/knee pads if they already have them
Please do not go out and purchase new equipment specifically for tryouts. I do not want families spending money on equipment before team selections have been made.
A Message to Players and Families:
I am extremely excited about the amount of interest we have received this season. We are starting off very strong with around 50 students interested in volleyball.
Unfortunately, that also brings our first difficult part of the season. I am only able to keep a certain number of players on the team, which means not everyone who tries out will be selected.
For everyone trying out, come ready to give your best effort. Be prepared to step outside of your comfort zone. Volleyball requires communication, teamwork, effort, and a willingness to learn, and those are all things I will be looking for throughout tryouts.
Most importantly, bring a positive attitude and treat every person in the gym with respect. Encourage one another and never underestimate another player. Someone you may not expect could be the person who comes into the gym determined to work the hardest and earn a spot.
Come ready to communicate, compete, learn, and show us what you can bring to the team.
I am looking forward to a great start to the season! - Coach Taylor (garrett.taylor@appo.k12.de.us)
If you have any additional questions, please reach out to the specific coach.
Thank you and good luck to our Eagle athletes!

DSMAC - Updates to PPE Forms for 2026-27 |
|
The DIAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (DSMAC) has approved updates to the Pre-participation Physical Examination (PPE) Medical Form for the 2026–2027 school year as DIAA transitions to electronic medical consent forms and digital submission through Rank One. KEY UPDATES: Under the updated process, the History Form and recommended Physical Examination Form will remain on file with the student-athlete’s Primary Care Practitioner (PCP) and will no longer be submitted to DIAA member schools. Student-athletes will only need to submit the updated School Athlete Medical Card, which now includes a designated section for the PCP to provide medical clearance and participation recommendations. The remaining pages in the PPE packet will be completed digitally as parent consent forms through Rank One. The updated PPE packet for 2026–2027 is linked for your review, and will be posted to the website by the end of the week. Please note that first-year school enterers (students entering middle school or high school for the first time) must still have the additional Department of Education recommended medical paperwork completed by their medical provider, which includes required screening and vaccination information. Throughout April, DIAA will offer a series of optional webinar trainings for athletic directors, school nurses, athletic trainers, and other staff to assist with implementation and the transition to the new system for the fall. The intention is for Rank One to be fully operational by May, allowing high schools to begin submitting forms for the 2026–2027 school year and utilize all other platform functions, with final timing expected to be confirmed within the next month. Athletic Directors will receive an email later next week with a list of optional webinar dates and additional resources for administrators and parents. |
